On Saturday, Tedeschi Trucks Band put a bow on their 2026 10-show residency at New York City’s famed Beacon Theatre. The powerhouse ensemble led by Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks were joined at various points of the night by special guests Jaimoe, Warren Haynes and Cyndi Lauper.
TTB started their Beacon finale by performing their recently released album, Future Soul, in its entirety. Unlike their previous full Future Soul performance on the sixth night of the run, Tedeschi Trucks Band reversed the track order found on the LP to kick off Saturday’s show.
Legendary co-founding The Allman Brothers Band drummer Jai Johanny Johanson, aka Jaimoe, emerged after the back-to-front album play to augment Tedeschi Trucks Band on a set-closing take on the Nina Simone-popularized “I Wish I Knew (How It Would Feel To Be Free).” Derek Trucks was Jaimoe’s ABB mate from 1999 through the group’s final shows in 2014. The Allman Brothers Band famously held annual March Madness residencies at the Beacon Theatre for the last two decades of their illustrious career.
Jaimoe was back on the third drum kit for the entire second set. The 81-year-old drummer and the TTB worked through a cover of CSNY’s “Ohio” to open the frame. Originals “Soul Sweet Song” and “Made Up Mind” followed before the band and their guest served up a medley of Sly & The Family Stone’s “You Can Make It If You Try” and “Everyday People.” A rousing “Let Me Get By” trailed behind along with a run of “Loving Cup,” “Leavin’ Trunk” and “Volunteered Slavery.”
TTB vocalist Alecia Chakour took center stage to front the group on their subsequent cover of Aretha Franklin’s “It Ain’t Fair.” Jaimoe and Derek Trucks’ fellow Allman Brothers alumnus Warren Haynes came out in time for a segue into “Dreams.” The mini ABB reunion continued with another of the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers’ classic songs, “Whipping Post.” Warren Haynes handled lead vocals on the set closer.
Longtime Upper West Side resident Cyndi Lauper made her second appearance of the residency for Tedeschi Trucks Band’s “With A Little Help From My Friends” encore on Saturday. Jaimoe and Warren Haynes also joined TTB on the Beatles’ cover. Cyndi Lauper handled a verse of the final song of the residency, while Susan Tedeschi sang the rest of “With A Little Help From My Friends.”
