Tedeschi Trucks Band kept their 10-show Beacon Theatre residency moving forward over the weekend with a pair of guest-filled concerts. On Friday, the group shared the stage with Warren Haynes, Julian Lage and Mike Elizondo before Cyndi Lauper, Nico-Bereciartua and James Genus sat in on Saturday.
Friday marked the release of TTB’s new album, Future Soul, and the group’s 70th lifetime concert at the iconic New York City venue. The 12-piece ensemble celebrated the occasion by performing the LP live in its entirety to kick off the first set. A well-jammed version of “I Want More” that segued into a cover of Santana’s “Soul Sacrifice” was tacked on for good measure.
Talented guitarist Julian Lage and bassist/Future Soul producer Julian Lage came out with TTB at the start of the second set for a memorable take on Derek & The Dominos’ “Keep On Growing.” Tedeschi Trucks Band then went it alone for a six-song run featuring originals “Part Of Me,” “Take Me As I Am,” “Anyhow” and “Do I Look Worried” along with covers of Blind Joe Reynolds’ “Outside Woman Blues” and Taj Mahal’s “Everybody’s Got To Change Sometime.”
Derek Trucks' longtime Allman Brothers bandmate Warren Haynes emerged to rapturous applause to sing and shred on the Little Feat classic “Spanish Moon.” Haynes stayed out for a +20-minute version of the beloved ABB instrumental “In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed.”
Tedeschi Trucks Band wrapped the closing stanza sans guests with “Made Up Mind.” Haynes returned to help the group end their sixth of 10 2026 Beacon Theatre shows with a “Let’s Go Get Stoned” encore.
Night seven on Saturday began with a focus on the past two TTB albums as the band played “Crazy Cryin’,” “I Got You” and “Be Kind” from Future Soul as well as “Ain’t That Something” and “Emmaline” off 2022’s I Am The Moon early in the first set. Next came double doses of Derek & The Dominos (“Bell Bottom Blues” and “Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad?”) and Sly & The Family Stone (“You Can Make It If You Try” and “Everyday People”) covers ahead of a set-closing “Bound For Glory.”
An unexpected collaboration launched the second set, when Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Cyndi Lauper teamed with Tedeschi Trucks Band on the Hambone Willie Newbern-penned blues standard “Rollin’ And Tumblin’.” The longtime Upper West Side resident shared lead vocals with Susan Tedeschi and played slide lute.
Derek Trucks then swapped in his 1959 Gibson Flying V guitar for a performance of “Future Soul.” Next came the band’s recently debuted cover of the CSNY 1970 protest song “Ohio.” Extended versions of fan favorites “Let Me Get By” and “Midnight In Harlem” then led into a version of The Rolling Stones’ “Loving Cup” that bled into Sleepy John Estes’ “Leavin’ Trunk.” The Black Crowes guitarist Nico Bereciartua took the stage before the transition to jam with the TTB on the Taj Mahal-popularized song.
TTB followed with another medley featuring their takes on John Prine’s “Angel From Montgomery” and the Grateful Dead’s “Sugaree.” From there, SNL band bassist James Genus took Brandon Boone’s spot for a performance of the Future Soul cut “Hero.” Boone returned and Genus stayed out for a set-closing “I Walk On Guilded Splinters” and the evening’s “Show Me” encore.
