Tedeschi Trucks Band brought their Deuces Wild Tour to the Blossom Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio on Tuesday. Guitarist Derek Trucks laced the concert with teases of three great instrumentals from his former group, The Allman Brothers Band.
TTB launched the concert with a pair of cuts off their 2022 four-part album, I Am The Moon. Vocalist/guitarist Susan Tedeschi first led the band through the opener, “Playing With My Emotions,” of I Am the Moon II: Ascension. The opener, “Hear My Dear,” from I Am the Moon I: Crescent followed.

Next came a pair of covers: Chuck Willis’ “I Feel So Bad” and George Harrison’s “Isn’t It A Pity.” The title track from TTB’s 2016 album, Let Me Get By, followed. Trucks then threw a tease of Duane Allman acoustic instrumental “Little Martha” into the intro of TTB’s “Part of Me.” “Little Martha” appears on The Allman Brothers’ 1972 album, Eat A Peach, released just months after Duane Allman’s tragic death in motorcycle accident on October 29, 1971.
Susan’s solo cut “Looking For Answers,” off her landmark 1998 album Just Won’t Burn, came next. Tedeschi Trucks Band then paired up their “I Want More” with Santana’s “Soul Sacrifice.” Vocalist Mike Mattison stepped into the spotlight for TTB’s recently debuted, bluesy rendition of Prince’s “1999.” The band unveiled the cover in The Purple One’s hometown of Minneapolis last week.
Derek and the Dominos classic “Keep on Growing” bloomed into the Blossom Center next. Duane Allman was a contributor to the supergroup’s Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs. TTB has performed the record in full and the 1970 LP also partially inspired their I Am The Moon album. Trucks threw in a nifty tease of ABB classic “Jessica” in his “Keep on Growing” solo.
Trucks then offered more of “Little Martha” solo before heading into his “Swamp Raga.” The latter included some psychedelic interplay between Derek and saxophonist Kebbi Williams before TTB melted into the classic, “Midnight in Harlem.”
Following the title track from the band’s 2013 album, Made Up Mind, Susan offered the title track to Just Won’t Burn, which saw her stretching out on a solo as well. Trucks wasn’t through with the Allmans yet, throwing a tease of “Les Brers in A Minor” in the outro. Dr. John’s “I Walk on Gilded Splinters,” led by Mattison, sealed the set.

The encore consisted of Bonnie Raitt’s rendition of Mike Reid’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and the Joe Cocker-recorded “Space Captain.” Next up for Tedeschi Trucks Band is a concert in Toronto on Thursday. Scroll down for TTB’s itinerary and ticket info.
