Tedeschi Trucks Band co-leaders Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks were in the house on Monday as the hometown Cleveland Guardians beat the Chicago Cubs at Progressive Field in a nailbiter. Susan Tedeschi sang “God Bless America” in the middle of the seventh inning after Derek Trucks threw out the first pitch.
The couple’s visit to Progressive Field came on the eve of TTB’s Deuces Wild Tour stop at Cleveland area outdoor amphitheater Blossom Music Center. Margo Price will open for the 12-piece ensemble tonight in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio as she has for a large portion of the summer leg of the Deuces Wild Tour.

Susan and Derek are huge sports fans and hold season tickets for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The pair joined forces to perform the National Anthem at a Jaguars playoff game in 2023. More recently, Derek and Susan swung by a Chicago White Sox game at Guaranteed Rate Field on July 30, where Trucks threw out the first pitch.
While music runs in Derek’s family as the nephew of Allman Brothers Band co-founding drummer Butch Trucks, baseball does as well. The guitarist’s great uncle, Virgil Trucks, was a major league pitcher between 1941 and 1958.
Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains had the honors of performing “The Star Spangled Banner” at Progressive Field last night. Watch Susan Tedeschi sing “God Bless America” in Cleveland below thanks to video captured by Jon A Galit II and shared on the Tedeschi Trucks Band Fans Facebook page:
