Tedeschi Trucks Band co-leaders Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi served as a good luck charm for the Jacksonville Jaguars, who defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 31 -30 in the wild card round of the NFL Playoffs on Saturday night. Trucks and Tedeschi played a stellar rendition of the National Anthem before the game at TIAA Bank Field in their hometown of Jacksonville.
Saturday marked the longtime Jaguars season ticket holders’ first time performing “The Star Spangled Banner” together at one of the team’s games. Derek Trucks utilized his signature Gibson SG guitar in accompanying his wife, Susan Tedeschi, who provided powerhouse vocals on the Anthem.
The game looked bleak for the Jaguars as they were down 27 – 0 in the first half. However, the team pulled it together and beat the Chargers after a last-second 36-yard field goal from Riley Patterson.
