Doug Green benefit -- Join members of the community on Saturday, September 14th, 2013 at 6pm onward as we gather to give back to Doug Green, one of the most iconic and beloved members of our community in his time of greatest need. Green conceived of and spearheaded the construction of a concert venue at French's Camp, produced the Garberville Music Festival twice, was a founding board member of the Mateel Community Center and was key in bringing Reggae on the River into the world. A veteran Master of Ceremonies for well over 3 decades at local gatherings, festivals, and concert events, Doug's recent medical issues require that rare kind of support and community minded spirit that he's given without fail to all of us over many, many years. Contributing their talents for the evening are an eclectic array of top-notch performers from around the region and beyond and include none other than Grammy-award winner and six-time Grammy nominee, Peter Rowan. Also on stage will be singer/songwriter Tina Malia and eco-feminist poet songwriter Joules Graves. Long-time regional favorites Joanne Rand, and Alice DiMicele, will contribute their talented performances to the evening as well. Very Special Guests include Greg Anton on Drums, and Al Torre on Guitar. What a line-up! Delicious dinner offerings with Humboldt Time will be available after 6pm, and music will start promptly at 7:30pm. Your enjoyment of this musical event will only be exceeded by the benefit your kind contributions will make to help one of our community's own sons in his greatest time of need. No cover at the door — a jar to collect funds will be passed. Volunteers are needed. Email or contact the Mateel at 923-3368. Tell your friends and neighbors about this special event, mark your calendars, and we'll see you at the show! For more about Doug visit his web site at:
