Show Info
Uprising... The breakout album from Imiuswi Aborigine. Showcasing the intelligently fierce rap lyrics of Imiuswi Aborigine, Uprising is an eleven song, live Hip Hop album that features driving bass and drum grooves colored with guitars, vintage keyboards, percussion and a wide range of world instruments. Uprising presents a dynamic musical journey, steered by the undeniably powerful words and voice of Imiuswi Aborigine. Displaying rhythmatic prose with poignant punch lines that jab and uppercut, the album Uprising delivers a socially progressive message that is charged and uncensored while remaining devoid of profanity, vulgarity and themes of material excess. Produced by writer and composer, Imiuswi Aborigine, and musical director, composer, and band bassist Dana Harlow, Uprising is the fruit of extensive labor. Assembled here is a skilled and receptive line-up of stellar supporting musicians and vocalists, spanning nationalities and styles, creating a resultant “big, big sound”. Incorporating diverse instrumentation into each song featured on the album, Uprising serves the dual purpose of musically hoisting and supporting the dangerously potent lyrics if Imiuswi Aborigine while pushing the boundaries of the Hip Hop genre into an exciting, previously uncharted territory. From the blazing Afrobeat style of the opening track “Rise and Fall”, to the old- school rap attack, “Playin’ It Off”, to the explosive guitar and cello riffs in “Fluctuation”, to the furious roots-rock-reggae driving “Liberation”, and the soulful song “Village”, featuring the West African Griot instrument Kora, Uprising is a genre bending Hip Hop hybrid that is fresh, wide, cohesive and engaging. Uprising is the debut release from the upstart independent label Lion’s Breath Unlimited. Fans of the following artists are sure to embrace Imiuswi Aborigine: Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, Anti-Pop Consortium, KRS One, Wise Intelligent, Gil Scott-Heron, Michael Franti, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Fela Kuti and Rage Against The Machine. “Fiercely Indep
