We begin the program with Haydn’s final symphony, Symphony No. 104 “ London,” which was one of twelve symphonies composed for a London concert series. Often referred to as the “father of the symphony,” Haydn’s long musical career played an integral role in establishing the compositional framework for the Classical style. The second half of the program will feature the talented voices of the University Chorale, MSU Choral Union and State Singers, as they take on Brahms’ powerful German Requiem. This tremendously passionate composition also features the brilliant solo voices of Baritone David Small and Soprano Melanie Helton.
