It may come as a surprise that the Jerry Garcia Band is still rollin’ without Jerry, but it really shouldn’t. Now led by the Hammond B-3 player Melvin Seals, a god father pioneer of what is now widely known as “jam band” music, they bring an improvisational, expressive style to rock and soul, with acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin, slide and lap steel, bass, hearty drums and, of course, Hammond organ wizardry. Best known for his long friendship and musical partnership with Jerry Garcia and for his smile that lights up the room, Melvin and JGB blend organic grooves and challenge genre boundaries -- an exciting, often psychedelic musical journey that keeps audiences dancing (and some staring in amazement) for several hours.
