Watch Widespread Panic Cover Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ At Red Rocks
Widespread Panic closed out their annual three-night stand at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado on June 26, 2016 with an encore that featured a cover of Leonard Cohen’s iconic “Hallelujah.” The sextet shared an official video of the entire encore, which also included classic originals “Postcard” and “Porch Song.”
Leonard Cohen originally released “Hallelujah” on his 1984 studio album, Various Positions. Jeff Buckley, Gov’t Mule, k.d. lang and Brandi Carlile are among the many artists who have covered “Hallelujah.”
Widespread Panic unveiled their take on “Hallelujah” on New Year’s Eve 2015 at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. Five additional versions followed in 2016 including the rendition WSP used to kick off a three-song encore to end their Red Rocks run. The song was last played by the sextet on October 30, 2016 at 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado.
