Aloe Blacc, Robert Randolph & G. Love Form New Band MudKings
A debut album is slated for release via Thirty Tigers later this year.

Aloe Blacc, Robert Randolph and G. Love have joined forces in a new band dubbed MudKings. Producer Johnny Black and songwriter Sam Hollander round out the five-person project.
MudKings revealed their existence with the launch of an official Instagram account featuring a series of teaser videos filmed in the studio. The clips offer previews of music seemingly recorded by the new band, including one titled “Back To The BoogieDown (MudKings).”
Blacc handles vocals for MudKings, with Randolph on lap steel and G. Love contributing vocals and harmonica. Black produced the group’s material with Hollander serving as co-writer. According to Black’s bio on the Concord Music Publishing website, MudKings are preparing a debut album for release in 2026 via Thirty Tigers.
There’s already some history among the collaborators. Randolph and G. Love have performed together on multiple occasions, including a January 2021 concert in Beaver Creek, Colorado. Hollander also co-wrote “Birmingham,” which featured Randolph on G. Love’s 2020 album The Juice, and has a writing credit on Randolph’s “All Night Lover.”
MudKings indicated their repertoire will encompass original material as well as “reimagined favorites.” Release details for the band’s first music have yet to be announced.
