Sacred steel specialist Robert Randolph was joined by G. Love, The String Cheese Incident‘s Michael Kang, The Motet bassist Garrett Sayers, Lettuce keyboardist Nigel Hall and The Nth Power drummer Nikki Glaspie for a socially distanced concert at Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek, Colorado on Saturday night. An audience of approximately 50 people caught the show in person, while the concert was also livestreamed worldwide via FANS.

Robert and the dynamic supergroup kicked off Saturday night’s performance with “I Need More Love,” one of Randolph’s most beloved songs. G. Love then fronted the ensemble on “Soul-B-Que” from his 2020 studio album, The Juice. Next, vocalist Adam Joseph emerged to back Nigel Hall on a cover of Maze’s “Happy Feelings.”

The concert continued with a dirty rendition of Bo Diddley’s “Who Do You Love?” before G. Love led the group on The Juice track “Go Crazy.” Joseph then returned for a Hall-sung version of Maze’s “Joy And Pain.” From there, Randolph shined on the Jimi Hendrix Experience’s “Foxy Lady” and Kang fronted the troupe on SCI’s “Stay Through” from the Colorad-based jam acts 2014 studio album, A Song In My Head.

Nigel starred on a cover of The Gap Band’s “Outstanding” and then G. Love handled lead vocals on the title track from The Juice. Saturday’s main set came to a close with a bombastic rendition of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” featuring Nikki Glaspie on lead vocals. The band then returned for an encore featuring a slow and throbbing take on Sly & The Family Stone’s “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin).”
