Watch Widespread Panic Bust Out Doors Cover ‘Riders On The Storm’ In 2011
More pro-shot video continues to flow from the Widespread Panic vault and the latest clip is a doozy. Panic shared their cover of The Doors classic “Riders On The Storm” from April 15, 2011 at The BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama.
Widespread Panic was originally slated to play Oak Mountain Amphitheatre in Pelham, Alabama on April 15 and 16, 2011. The first show was moved to Oak Mountain due to inclement weather as per Everyday Companion while the second show did take place in Pelham.
The fitting “Riders On The Storm” came early in the first set at The BJCC. Widespread Panic debuted their cover of the song from The Doors’ L.A. Woman album on Halloween 1996 in Chicago. The sextet played “Riders On The Storm” once a year in 1997, 1998 and 1999 before reviving the cover in 2005 with two performances a piece coming in 2006 and 2008. Widespread Panic’s version in Birmingham was their first “Riders On The Storm” in 182 shows. WSP dusted off the Doors cover once since on July 19, 2015 in Louisville.
