Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to The Beacon Theatre on Thursday for the fourth show of their six-night residency at the historic New York City venue. Legendary blues guitarist Buddy Guy opened the concert and then joined Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks for a special acoustic performance ahead of TTB’s set.
Buddy Guy has been supporting TTB on most nights of their recently launched Live In 25 Tour, including the first four shows on the Beacon run. Last night marked Guy’s final show opening for Tedeschi Trucks Band, which led Susan and Derek to honor him with the “tweener” performance.

Susan Tedeschi addressed the audience before the TTB headlining set:
“Good evening. I just want to say that it’s been an amazing tour playing with Buddy for the last several weeks. It’s been an absolute honor and a pleasure. Derek had a good idea that we should sit around and play a little acoustic with Buddy for one song. So, he’s gonna come out with us. Sure gonna miss him.”
Buddy Guy, Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks treated the crowd to a lengthy version of “I’m In The Mood.” Originally written and recorded by John Lee Hooker, Guy released a version of the song with Junior Wells on their 1981 live album Going Back To Acoustic.
The 88-year-old bluesman sang the bulk of “I’m In The Mood” with Susan Tedeschi handling lead vocals for a verse and chorus. Derek Trucks utilized a slide to unleash a flurry of unplugged riffage during the acoustic number.

Tedeschi Trucks Band threw down a 17-song performance at the theater on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. The powerhouse 12-piece ensemble devoted the setlist to tunes they hadn’t performed over the first three nights of the residency, except for the beloved “Midnight In Harlem.”
Susan Tedeschi led her bandmates through their first cover of George Harrison’s “Wah-Wah” since November 12, 2024 to kick off the set. Additional 2025 debuts “Laugh About It,” “Don’t Drift Away” and “Outside Woman Blues” followed. After “It’s So Heavy,” the TTB went back to 2025 debuts with takes on Bob Dylan’s “Down In The Flood” and original “Last Night In The Rain.”
“Everybody Oughta Make A Change” also saw action for the first time this year as part of the main set. Tedeschi Trucks Band ended the night with one final 2025 debut as they covered Bobby “Blue” Bland’s “I Pity The Fool” for their encore.
