Sabrina Carpenter Debuts Netflix Christmas Special Trailer & Gets ‘Super Freak’ On In Los Angeles

Sabrina Carpenter closed out her 2024 Short n’ Sweet Tour on Monday night with her second of two shows at the Kia Forum near Los Angeles. The pop star premiered the trailer for her A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter Netflix special before taking the stage and performed “Super Freak” as the evening’s surprise cover song.

A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter debuts on Netflix on Friday, December 6 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. The holiday variety musical special will see Carpenter performing songs from her holiday EP Fruitcake and additional holiday covers. Sabrina Carpenter will also be joined by guest artists for holiday-themed duets.

The special will include duets with Chappell Roan, Tyla, Shania Twain and Kali Uchis. A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter will also feature appearances from Nico Hiraga, Quinta Brunson, Cara Delevingne, Kyle Mooney, Megan Stalter, Sean Astin, Owen Thiele and Jillian Bell.

“The holidays have always been so special to me,” Carpenter told Netflix. “I am excited to bring my take to a classic holiday variety show — infusing my love of music and comedy to make something that is uniquely me.”

Sabrina Carpenter played a mid-show game of spin-the-bottle to determine the surprise song played at Kia Forum on Monday. Rick James’ 1981 smash “Super Freak” got the call and was debuted by Carpenter in Los Angeles.

The 19-song performance also included ten of the 12 tracks featured on Sabrina Carpenter’s 2024 LP, Short n’ Sweet. Carpenter also fit six tunes from 2022’s Emails I Can’t Send into the setlist. The pop star picked actress Margaret Qualley over famed producer Jack Antonoff, who worked on Short n’ Sweet with Carpenter, to put under arrest for being “too hot” in the evening’s installment of a running tour gag.
