Xtina + Sabrina: Christina Aguilera Joins Sabrina Carpenter In Los Angeles

Sabrina Carpenter brought out fellow former Disney child star Christina Aguilera during the Short n’ Sweet Tour stop at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles last Friday night. The pop icon of the early 2000s was accompanied by Carpenter on a two-song medley of Aguilera’s best-known hits.

Carpenter set up Aguilera’s unexpected appearance with a mid-show game of spin-the-bottle to determine the next song of the set. The spin landed on “Ain’t No Other Man”/“What a Girl Wants,” at which point Carpenter exclaimed it was time for a “little Christina.”

Behind Carpenter at the other end of the stage, a door on the floor opened and Aguilera appeared, rising up on a platform from beneath the stage. The audience cheered upon recognizing Aguilera. Fulfilling the spin-the-bottle premonition, Aguilera and Carpenter kicked off the collaboration with “Ain’t No Other Man” from Aguilera’s fifth studio album, 2006’s Back to Basics.

The medley then segued into “What a Girl Wants.” Carpenter recently recorded a version of the hit single from Aguilera’s 1999 self-titled debut album as part of Spotify’s 25th anniversary celebration of the release.

Carpenter followed Friday’s concert at Crypto.com Arena with a concert last night that was the first show of a two-night stand at the nearby Kia Forum in Inglewood, which are the final shows of the North American leg of the tour in support of her recently released album, Short n' Sweet.
