Susan Tedeschi, Margo Price & Nathaniel Rateliff Give My Morning Jacket What They Need In Nashville

My Morning Jacket and Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats‘s Eye To Eye Tour pulled into Nashville last night for the first of two shows at Ascend Amphitheater. The penultimate song of the evening was a memorable one as Susan Tedeschi, Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats Horns teamed with My Morning Jacket for a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”

Rateliff and The Night Sweats began the concert with a 21-song set. The band played six tunes each from their their latest LP, South Of Here and 2018’s Tearing At The Seams. A pairing of “S.O.B.” and “Love Don’t” brought the first performance of the night to a close.

My Morning Jacket capped Wednesday’s action at Ascend Amphitheater. Jim James and his bandmates fit four tour debuts into the setlist. “Outta My System,” “Dondante” and James’ “Here In Spirit” were trotted out by Jacket along with the live premiere of “Aren’t We One?,” a single released by the band one day earlier.

Susan Tedeschi, Margo Price and Nathaniel Rateliff emerged late in the set for “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” The Night Sweats Horns also contributed to MMJ’s second-ever take on the song from The Stones’ 1969 album, Let It Bleed. Jim James handled the bulk of the lead vocals with Rateliff handling a verse. Tedeschi, Price and Rateliff sang harmonies.
