The Disco Biscuits celebrated the arrival of their new album, the space opera Revolution In Motion, on Friday with a sold-out Album Release Show at Webster Hall in New York City. The jamtronica quartet devoted the concert to a complete performance of the 14-track record featuring appearances from three different special guests.
Friday’s show saw the band play extended versions of the material on Revolution In Motion over the course of the evening’s two sets. Vocalist Erin Boyd (Resistance Revival Chorus, Jennifer Hartswick) portrayed “The Queen” as she sang “Twisted In The Road” during the first set and “Why We Dance” within the second. Additionally, vocalist Matteo Scammell (The Very Moon musical) joined for second set opener “Tourists (Rocket Ship)” and the “To Be Continued…” finale.

Frequent Bisco collaborator Cloudchord (Derek VanScoten), who produced the album, ripped it up on guitar during “Tourists (Rocket Ship)” and “Spaga’s Last Stand.” The latter saw tDB keyboardist Aron Magner utilize a Keytar on stage for the first time.
Wild ai-influenced visuals were provided by Blunt Action and Todd Kushnir to accompany Disco Biscuits LD Herm Schneider’s array of lights and lasers. Those in the capacity crowd were welcomed to the venue by life-size cutouts of the aliens that appear in an animated film that was released alongside the band’s first full-length studio album of original material since 2011’s Otherwise Law Abiding Citizens. Official video of the full show can be viewed on-demand via nugs.net.
The Disco Biscuits continue their Why We Dance Tour on Tuesday night at Mercury Ballroom in Louisville. From there, the band will head to New Orleans, Texas, North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia over the next two weeks.
