Dave Matthews Band Keeps Rarities Coming & Welcomes Ashlin Parker In Noblesville

Dave Matthews Band returned to Noblesville, Indiana over the weekend for their annual tour stop at Ruoff Music Center, a venue originally known as Deer Creek. The septet fit three tour debuts into the setlist on Friday and followed with four more during a Saturday show that also included a surprise guest appearance from trumpeter Ashlin Parker.

While Dave Matthews Band has always kept fans on their toes by drawing from their vast live repertoire each tour, they’ve taken the trend to a new level this summer. Nearly two months into the trek, they continue to dust off multiple songs at nearly every show.

On Friday, DMB kicked off the run with the tour’s first “JTR,” an unreleased original dating back to 2000. Tour debuts of “Can’t Stop” and “Digging A Ditch” trailed shortly behind. The former was debuted live in 2006, with a studio version issued on the band’s 2018 albm Come Tomorrow. “Digging A Ditch” was plucked from Busted Stuff, a DMB album released in 2002.

The rest of the Friday night setlist was loaded with songs DMB hasn’t played frequently this summer. “Lying In The Hands Of God,” “Squirm,” “Looking For A Vein,” “Spaceman,” “Halloween” and “Sister” were trotted out for their second appearances of the tour, while “American Baby Intro,” “So Damn Lucky,” “Fool In The Rain,” “So Much To Say” and “Anyone Seen The Bridge” had their third plays of the run.

On Saturday, fans were greeted with a “Two Step” opener. The beloved jam vehicle nearly as old as the band itself was played regularly last summer but didn’t make a 2026 DMB setlist until Saturday. Another classic, “One Sweet World,” came next before the tour debut of “Hello Again,” a track off 2005’s Stand Up.

New Orleans-based trumpeter Ashlin Parker of Dumpstaphunk fame emerged towards the middle of the set for “What Would You Say.” Parker vacated the stage for the ensuing “Shotgun” but was back next to DMB trumpeter Rashawn Ross and saxophonist Jeff Coffin for the nearly 17-minute “Crush” that followed.

Another surprise came a few songs later when oldie “Cry Freedom” saw action for its tour debut. The song originally released on 1996’s Crash has been around since the very beginning of DMB.

However, DMB wasn’t finished yet. When Dave Matthews returned for the encore, he served up his first-ever full solo rendition of “Good Good Time.” The unreleased number hadn’t been performed at a full band show for 12 years and has only been played by the group 10 times since 2004, the year “Good Good Time” was debuted. Matthews was then joined by the rest of the band for the evening’s “The Last Stop” finale.

Dave Matthews Band now has some time off before they resume the tour on July 7 with their first of two shows at Acrisure Amphitheater in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Watch fan-shot video of highlights from DMB’s latest run in Noblesville, Indiana below:
