Dave Matthews Band Brings Back Fiddler Casey Driessen At Forest Hills Stadium

Dave Matthews Band pulled into a sold-out Forest Hills Stadium on Wednesday for the latest stop of their 2026 tour. The “summer of fiddlers” continued last night, when Casey Driessen sat-in with the septet for the second time in a month after recent DMB collaborations with top-tier violinists Tatiana Hargreaves and Jake Simpson.

New York City was buzzing with the Knicks playing the fourth game of the NBA finals a few miles away at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. The show ended by 9:30 p.m., giving basketball fans a chance to watch the Knicks pull off one of the greatest comebacks in playoff history.

DMB performed for nearly two and a half hours at Forest Hills Stadium. An extremely rare “Drunken Soldier” opener kicked off the show, followed by the beloved triumvirate of “So Much To Say,” “Anyone Seen The Bridge” and “Too Much.”

”Ants Marching” came next trailed by the first “Proudest Monkey” of the tour. The recently revived “Kit Kat Jam” was played soon thereafter along with “Rooftop,” the second and final tour debut of the night.

Casey Driessen, who attended music school with trumpeter Rashawn Ross, took the stage with DMB for four songs in the middle of the set. The Minnesota native made his DMB debut in Charlotte on May 16. This time around he added fiddle to “#41,” “Satellite,” “Pig” and “Lie In Our Graves” for his first appearance of the evening.

Driessen’s initial run of collaborations was followed by a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Fool In The Rain” featuring Matthews in full frontman mode sans guitar. The set concluded with the beloved “The Best Of What’s Around” and a “Typical Situation” that gave way to a “Lie In Our Graves” reprise.

Dave Matthews debuted “Papertown” with an assist from Driessen last month in Charlotte. The fiddler once again accompanied Matthews on the song he wrote for the 2026 documentary of the same name to start the encore at Forest Hills Stadium. An oddly placed “Madman’s Eyes” ended the show.
