Dave Matthews Band launched their 2026 headline tour in Texas over the weekend with concerts on Friday at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands and on Saturday at Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas. A trio of breakouts lined the repeatless setlists, including the band’s first performance of “Kit Kat Jam” since 2013.
After taking the stage one weekend earlier for a set at Memphis' RiverBeat Music Festival, DMB opened the tour proper at The Woodlands. The septet delivered a 20-song performance at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion that was broadcast live on SiriusXM’s Dave Matthews Band Radio channel.
DMB selected “So Right” to kick off the night on Friday and then played such favorites as “Warehouse,” “Grace Is Gone” and “Grey Street” before serving up the first curveball of the tour. The group dug deep for the unreleased “Cha Cha,” which they’d last played on July 21, 2023. “Cha Cha,” also known as “Only Takes A Moment,” was debuted earlier that summer and then played seven more times in a five-week period.
Up next was “The Only Thing,” the lone offering from DMB’s latest studio album, Walk Around The Moon. Oldies “Satellite” and “Lie In Our Graves” were then broken up by a cover of “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie. The band followed by looking back to 2012’s Away From The World for their first “Broken Things” since November 9, 2021 — a span of 225 shows.
DMB went on to load the rest of the set with staples “Funny The Way It Is,” “Gravedigger,” “You & Me,” “The Best Of What’s Around” and “Tripping Billies.” Matthews returned to begin the encore with a solo “Take All Day” before the rest of the band came back for the “All Along The Watchtower” finale.
The Saturday night show in Dallas was also a career-spanning affair loaded with classics. The aforementioned “Kit Kat Jam” was performed in the six-slot. Dave Matthews Band’s first version of the beloved instrumental in nearly 13 years followed a rare full-band “Dreamgirl” and was greeted with rowdy cheers.
Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” was the lone cover played during the main set at Dos Equis Pavilion. “Dancing Nancies” closed the frame, marking the first appearance of the song in that slot at a full band show since 1995. “Crush,” “Why I Am,” “The Song That Jane Likes,” “Say Goodbye,” “Rapunzel” and “Typical Situation” were among other live favorites to make the setlist in Dallas.
Once again, Dave Matthews went solo to open the encore. This time, Matthews delivered a take on Tex Ritter’s “Rye Whiskey.” A full-band “The Stone” ended the concert. Dave Matthews Band completes their swing through Texas tonight, May 11 at the Moody Center in Austin.
