Yeah Yeah Yeahs Drop New Album & Concert Film ‘Hidden in Pieces Live At The Royal Albert Hall’

Yeah Yeah Yeahs detailed a new album, Hidden in Pieces Live at the Royal Albert Hall, which is out today digitally with physical copies arriving October 23. An accompanying concert film directed by Barnaby Clay is now streaming on Criterion Channel with theatrical screenings forthcoming.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs embarked on their Hidden in Pieces Tour last year as they clocked their 25th anniversary. The band’s Karen O spoke about what moved them to take on the ambitious trek, which saw the rockers mining their catalog and performing in stripped-down formats with string arrangements.

Hidden in Pieces Live at the Royal Albert Hall was born out of a need to commune with our band and fan family in 2025, after the election. In the past, YYYs haven’t often chosen when to be back at it and out there, it often chooses us. It, being the times. We turn to live music when we need that specific quality of depth and light to see us through the times.

We worked on these arrangements in February of ’25 at Sonic Ranch in an impossibly small window of time. Our string arranger Jherek Bischoff dove straight into the deep end with us as we arranged almost 24 songs for a quartet and acoustic instrumentation in less than a week. The stakes were high, The Royal Albert Hall was the 3rd play of the tour, most of this record is live from the hall. It was our first time performing there and the hype leading up to it was overwhelming, but ladies and gentlemen we believe the hype now we’ve done it. The pipe organ moment in “Skeletons” was no less than immaculate vibrations. We felt the spirits of all legends past swirling around us. Nick remarked that he felt as though his fingers were guided on the guitar neck. The real alchemy happened when we played the hall, it clicked into place. All the shows we performed on this small tour were extraordinarily vulnerable. We hope that translates.

Arriving alongside the album is a documentary directed by Barnaby Clay, whose credits include the Mick Rock documentary Shot! and horror film The Seeding.

“I wanted to create a film that not only captured the live performance but also felt close to the spirit of what the band was going for with their shows; something delicate and dream-like, like a precious memory, timeless, emotionally charged and shrouded in mystery,” Clay stated.

“Barney Clay has made a stunning film of the live performance that takes you there in the moment with us in the most heavenly way,” Karen O said. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman also thanked late influential filmmaker David Lynch.

“Thanks also to David Lynch for his everything,” she said. “His passing came a month before we began this journey and the performance begins with an ode to his legacy.”

Along with selections from the band’s Albert Hall performance, Hidden In Pieces also boasts takes from New York, Chicago, San Diego and other Hidden Pieces Tour stops including sessions at Sonic Ranch.
