Greensky Bluegrass will return to their hometown of Kalamazoo, Michigan to start 2027. The band added January 1 and 2 concerts at Wings Event Center to expand its previously announced New Year’s Run to four nights.

The Kalamazoo homecoming will follow Greensky Bluegrass’ December 30 and 31 shows at The Salt Shed in Chicago. Chicago last hosted the band for a New Year’s Eve run in 2018.

Greensky’s newly announced concerts mark a quick return to Wings Event Center, where the quintet celebrated their 25th anniversary with a pair of guest-filled shows on October 31 and November 1, 2025. The milestone was especially fitting for a band that traces its origins to Kalamazoo, where mandolinist Paul Hoffman, guitarist Dave Bruzza and banjoist Michael Arlen Bont first performed under the Greensky Bluegrass moniker during an impromptu Halloween show in 2000.

Bassist Mike Devol joined Greensky Bluegrass in 2004, while dobroist Anders Beck came aboard in 2007 to cement the band’s current lineup.

The January concerts also revive Greensky’s tradition of staging holiday runs in Kalamazoo. The band celebrated Thanksgiving Weekend with two shows at the Kalamazoo State Theatre each non-pandemic year from 2017 through 2022. GSBG returned to the venue for concerts on December 30 and 31, 2023, their final hometown appearances before last year’s 25th anniversary celebration.

The announcement comes just after another memorable weekend for GSBG in Michigan. The band performed Thursday’s Ionia Freak Fair Eve concert in Grand Rapids, where Billy Strings and Leftover Salmon’s Vince Herman were among the guests. Greensky then headed to Ionia on Saturday to perform a set at Strings’ inaugural Ionia Freak Fair and later joined the festival host during his final headlining set.

A fan club presale for the January 1 and 2 concerts is currently underway. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, September 4 at 10 a.m. ET.
