Dave Matthews Band wrapped a two-night stand at BankNH Pavilion in Gilford, New Hampshire on Wednesday. The show saw DMB breaking out the rarity “Halloween” to cap the concert.

Although it appears on the 1998 album Before These Crowded Streets, “Halloween” dates back to the early days of Dave Matthews Band. Fittingly debuted on Halloween 1992, as Dave Matthews and drummer Carter Beauford discussed during 2020’s Dave and Carter: The Warehouse Session (DMB Almanac), “Halloween” was played heavily between ‘92 and ‘94. Also fittingly, “Halloween” has been a shapeshifter, morphing arrangements and segues throughout the years. In 2015, DMB played “Halloween” 10 times, but since then it has been played just a few times per year.

The Gilford “Halloween” marked the first since June 30, 2024. The show-closer was preceded by Dave going solo for the recently debuted “Take All Day” and the first “Lie in Our Graves Reprise” on a separate night from the main song (DMB opened N1 in Gilford with the classic) since June 29, 2013. The band launched the concert with “So Much To Say” and “Anyone Seen the Bridge” with a “Too Much” fake. Additional favorites performed included “Ants Marching,” “Typical Situation” and a “Warehouse” set-closer. The Gilford finale also saw audio engineer Joe Lawlor joining the band once again. The guitarist sat in with DMB in the group’s home state of Virginia a few shows previous, on “Rhyme & Reason.” and repeated the feat in New Hampshire.
