Dave Matthews Band’s 2025 tour recently took a trip to the southern hemisphere for a pair of performances at São Paulo, Brazil’s Best of Blues and Rock Festival. DMB’s sets on both June 7 and 8 at the Auditório Ibirapuera saw the band welcoming renowned Brazilian harmonica player Gabriel Grossi.

Gabriel Grossi is regarded as one of the best harmonica players in the world. A highly collaborative musician, Grossi has worked with Hermeto Pascoal, Chico Buarque, Milton Nascimento, Jacob Collier, Snarky Puppy, Winton Marsalis and Dave Matthews to name a few.

Grossi joined Dave Matthews Band, along with Brazilian woodwind master Carlos Malta, during a concert in Rio de Janeiro back in 2010 on “#41.” Grossi reunited with DMB on Saturday at the Best of Blues and Rock Festival, blowing some absolute smoke on the harp during the funky breakdown on “What Would You Say.” Check out the performance below:

DMB’s play on June 7 got underway with “Don’t Drink The Water.” Additional favorites included “So Much To Say,” “Too Much,” “Satellite,” “Crash Into Me,” “Jimi Thing,” “Tripping Billies” and “Ants Marching.” The band also touched on their latest studio album, Walk Around The Moon, with the title track.

On June 8, DMB kicked things off with “Warehouse.” Night two featured another healthy mix of classics and newer material including “Lie In Our Graves” — which contained a “Wonderful Tonight” tag — a “Pantala Naga Pampa”/“Pig”/“Rapunzel” trio and “Crush” in the former category. The selection from Walk Around The Moon for night two was “Madman’s Eyes.”

Grossi also returned for the second night in São Paulo, sitting in on the tune he joined the band on 15 years ago, “#41.” The main set came to a close with “All Along The Watchtower” which included a partial “Stairway To Heaven.” DMB concluded their Best of Blues and Rock Festival 2025 appearance with Dave Matthews solo on “Just Breathe” before the band returned for “Two Step.”
