Dave Matthews Debuts New Song ‘Kill The Monster’ At Solo Houston Show

Dave Matthews took a detour from his tour with Dave Matthews Band to perform a rare solo show at Houston’s White Oak Music Hall. Friday’s Wells Fargo Autograph Card Exclusives concert featured the live debut of a new song entitled “Kill The Monster.”
Matthews opted to debut his new composition as the penultimate song of a 21-song main set, positioning it after “Stay Or Leave” and before the set closing “Grey Street.”
“I got this song – I’ve been working on this new tune,” Matthews explained. “It’s a dark one. I like it. I’m gonna give you just a little taste.”
Playing an acoustic guitar, Matthews then sang “Kill The Monster,” delivering the lyrics “I know you want peace on earth / But we got to kill the monster first.”
