Dave Matthews Band rolled through Toronto’s Budweiser Stage on Tuesday. DMB broke out “Steady As We Go” for the first time since 2022 toward the end of the main set.
Dave Matthews Band’s sole stop in Canada on their 2025 Summer Tour got underway with “Ants Marching,” a song that often serves as a set closer. The Under the Table and Dreaming cut has opened 2.1 percent of shows, according to DMBAlmanac.
Another Under the Table and Dreaming song, “The Best of What’s Around,” followed ahead of the title track from the group’s most recent record Walk Around the Moon. The band then bounced through “You Never Know,” the favorite “Lie in Our Graves” and “Spoon.”

The Toronto play also saw the tour debut of “Joyride.” The song has been played 78 times with 54 of them coming in 2004 as the it was set to land on DMB’s 2005 album Stand Up but didn’t make the final cut. “Jimi Thing” floated up next ahead of “Lover Lay Down,” “Shake Me Like A Monkey” and “#41.” A song that has seen sporadic resurgences over the years, “Stolen Away At 55th and 3rd” followed. “So Damn Lucky” and a cover of David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” came next.
DMB then offered the rarity, “Steady As We Go.” A song that did make the final cut of Stand Up, “Steady As We Go” was played 31 times in 2005 but then played just once between 2007 and 2017. “Steady As We Go” saw revivals in 2018 and 2022, with the latter being the last year it was played ahead of the Toronto bust out.
The song rolls along with just Dave Matthews singing accompanied by piano from Buddy Strong before the full band comes in for a triumphant coda full of brass from trumpeter Rashawn Ross and saxophonist Jeff Coffin. Watch DMB breakout “Steady As We Go” below:
With “Ants Marching” opening the show, the set came to a close with a one-two punch of “What Would You Say” and “Two Step.” For the Dave solo encore opener, Matthews delivered the pandemic era “Singing From the Windows.” In yet another setlist shake up, DMB sealed the show with “Drive In Drive Out,” which appeared in an encore for the first time since 2003 and closed a concert for the first time since 2000.
