Warren Haynes Reunites With Musical Brother On New Studio Album

As reported, guitarist Warren Haynes will release a new Warren Haynes Band album entitled Million Voices Whisper this fall. While Haynes hasn’t announced details of the first WHB LP since 2011, the Gov’t Mule frontman revealed a particularly special guest contributed to the record.

Warren’s longtime The Allman Brothers Band mate Derek Trucks will be featured on Million Voices Whisper. “We also brought Derek Trucks into the studio for three songs,” Haynes told Cleveland.com after reeling off the names of the WHB’s members. “That was the first time that we collaborated since the Allman Brothers stopped playing.”

Derek Trucks joined The Allman Brothers Band in 1999 during a period when Haynes had left to focus on Gov’t Mule. Warren Haynes returned to the legendary southern rock band in 2000. Haynes and Trucks remained in the ABB through the group’s final shows in 2014.

Though Million Voices Whisper marks the first time the guitarists have collaborated together in the studio since the end of the Allmans, they have shared the stage during several Tedeschi Trucks Band concerts. Haynes last joined the TTB during their Garden Party in Boston last September.

Warren Haynes is accompanied in the latest Warren Haynes Band lineup by bassist Kevin Scott, drummer Terence Higgins, saxophonist Greg Osby and keyboardist John Medeski. Keyboardist Matt Slocum has been keeping Medeski’s seat warm at recent WHB shows. John Medeski will be back in the fold when the WHB embarks on a fall tour in support of Million Voices Whisper.
