Big Thief Welcomes Bill Frisell & Iris DeMent At Red Rocks

Big Thief rolled into Red Rocks on Tuesday to deliver the penultimate show of their late summer early fall tour. The folk rock trio welcomed opener Iris DeMent and renowned guitarist Bill Frisell across the concert.

Frisell emerged with Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek and James Krivchenia to help them launch their Red Rocks concert with the title track from the band’s most recently released full-length album, 2025’s Double Infinity. The musicians followed with Double Infinity cut “No Fear.”

Frisell stayed on for the lion’s share of the show, including on Big Thief favorites such as “Vampire Empire,” “Simulation Swarm,” “Not” and “Incomprehensible.” Acclaimed folk artist Iris DeMent joined midway through the show for “Beautiful World,” a song from Big Thief’s forthcoming triple album, Horsepower.

DeMent was on hand for Big Thief’s two-night run at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium where the trio played every song from the 29-track Horsepower. At Red Rocks on Tuesday, Big Thief, Frisell and DeMent performed songs from Horsepower to seal the main set including “Where Will We Go,” “Snail,” “True Love,” “Born For Loving You,” “These Are the Days,” “Bright Future” and “6-7-8-9 She’s Fine.”

Big Thief went it alone to kick off the encore with “Masterpiece.” DeMent and Frisell then returned to help the trio seal the show with “Spud Infinity” and Horsepower track “Gift Pleasure Joy.”
