Third Man Records Announces Pearl Jam Live Album

By Andy Kahn Jul 1, 2016 9:41 am PDT

Prior to their headlining appearance at this year’s Bonnaroo, Pearl Jam held a surprise warm-up performance in nearby Nashville at Third Man Records. That set on June 9 before 250 Ten Club members, along with a special recording made there by frontman Eddie Vedder, will be released as part of Jack White’s label’s 29th Vault Package.

Recorded live direct-to-acetate and released on black-and-gold, split-colored vinyl, Pearl Jam’s performance was highlighted by White joining in on guitar on the opening song of the encore, the sparsely played “Of The Earth.” The Blue Room’s career-spanning set also featured a cover of Pink Floyd’s “Interstellar Overdrive,” followed by “Corduroy” from Vitalogy, the Lightning Bolt cuts “Pendulum” and “Mind Your Manners,” the Riot Act track “1/2 Full” as well as “Life Wasted” off of Pearl Jam and “Deep” from Ten. After White’s sit-in, the show ended with rarities “Hard To Imagine” and “Let Me Sleep.”

The following day, Vedder utilized Third Man’s Voice-o-Graph recording booth and “performed an arresting, solo acoustic song.” Pressed on clear transparent vinyl, Vedder’s solo recording (the handwritten title on the custom album sleeve appears to read “Out Of Sand”) is included in the Vault package.

Vault Package #29, which includes a photo book, patch and pin, is available for subscribers of the label’s Vault Platinum Subscription. Additionally, all Pearl Jam Ten Club members will receive an exclusive discount coupon code to use toward a purchase of the package.
