Faces bandmates Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood reunited at Glastonbury on Worthy Farm in Pilton, England over the weekend. Stewart’s set on Sunday saw The Rolling Stones guitarist sitting in on the Faces classic “Stay With Me.”
Penned by Stewart and Wood, “Stay With Me” appeared on Faces penultimate album, A Nod Is As Good As a Wink… to a Blind Horse, one of two records released in 1971. “Stay With Me” cracked the Top 10 in the UK and marked the band’s only major hit in the United States. An instant classic, the rocker features Stewart’s swaggering vocal, Ronnie Wood’s excellent guitar work and an iconic electric piano line from Ian McLagan.

“C’mon Ronnie, let’s remember the old days,” Stewart prefaced the song at Glastonbury before Wood launched into his extended opening riff. The duo’s chemistry was on full display as was Ronnie’s proficiency on slide guitar.

Wood also stuck around for Stewart’s 1977 single, “Hot Legs,” which saw an additional guest spot from Scottish singer Lulu. Rod Stewart was also joined by Simply Red's Mick Hucknall for a duet on Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes’ “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” prior to Ronnie Wood’s appearance.
Additional solo favorites in Stewart’s set included “Maggie May,” “You Wear It Well” and “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” The singer also offered covers from Sam Cooke (“Having a Party”), Cat Stevens (“The First Cut Is the Deepest”) and “Sailing” by The Sutherland Brothers to close the performance.
