Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh will be honored with a street dedication at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York. “Phil Lesh Lane” will be unveiled at a celebratory ceremony taking place on March 14 before the four-night “Unbroken Chain: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Phil Lesh” series of concerts at The Cap coinciding with what would have been Lesh’s 85th birthday on March 15.
“The Lesh Family is so honored that the many magical nights that Phil spent at The Cap will be commemorated with Phil Lesh Lane,” Phil Lesh’s son Grahame Lesh stated. “Phil loved The Cap and the entire community that came to his shows here, and our whole family will always feel the love that reflected back to him and all of us. It is extra special for this commemoration to happen on his 85th Birthday weekend, as we all spent so many of his birthdays with Deadheads who traveled from near and far to celebrate with him and our family.”

The Capitol Theatre hosted 18 Grateful Dead concerts between 1970 and 1971. Phil Lesh performed at The Cap over 100 times since the historic theater reopened in 2012. Lesh died in October 2024 at age 84.
“Phil was like a father to the Capitol, and performed there more times than any other musician in the theater’s history,” said The Capitol Theatre’s Peter Shapiro. “We are thrilled that he will now be with us, on the same street, for every show the theater has moving forward, forever.”
The Village Of Port Chester previously recognized Phil Lesh by giving him the Key to Port Chester and naming him an honorary member of the Port Chester Volunteer Fire Department.
Grahame Lesh will perform at all four “Unbroken Chain: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Phil Lesh” concerts at The Cap. Lesh will team with guitarists Eric Krasno and Rick Mitarotonda, bassist Oteil Burbridge, multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby, drummer John Molo and trumpeter Jennifer Hartswick on March 14 and 15.
The band for the 16th will feature Grahame joined by guitarist Jackie Greene, multi-instrumentalist Larry Campbell, vocalist Teresa Williams, drummer John Molo and keyboardist Steve Molitz.
Guitarists Warren Haynes and Jimmy Herring, keyboardist Rob Barraco and drummer John Molo, who were members of the Phil Lesh Quintet, will join Grahame on March 17.
