Paul Simon Dusts Off ‘Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes’ At Hollywood Bowl

Paul Simon made the second stop of his Summer 2026 North American Quiet Celebration Tour on Sunday night at Hollywood Bowl. Simon included his first performance of “Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes” in over six years into his 22-song concert at the historic Los Angeles venue.

The show started as all concerts on the Quiet Celebration Tour have, with a complete performance of Simon’s 2023 studio album, Seven Psalms. Edie Brickell made her first of several appearances at Hollywood Bowl by joining her husband for “The Sacred Harp” and “Wait,” the last two tracks of the LP.

Paul Simon turned his attention to his complete discography for his extended second set and encore at Hollywood Bowl. Songs from Graceland bookended the frame with the title track opening and “Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes” closing the set. Simon also recruited Edie Brickell to duet on the album’s “Under African Skies” during the set.

While “Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes” was a staple of setlists for Simon’s Homeward Bound Farewell Tour in 2017 and 2018 as well as a string of shows he played in 2019, he hadn’t performed the classic song on his Quiet Celebration Tour until the Hollywood Bowl show. The band sounded well rehearsed for the tight version they pulled off in Los Angeles.

Simon began his encore with a “Me And Julio Down By The River” featuring whistling from Edie Brickell. He then performed the beloved Simon & Garfunkel song “The Boxer” before returning for a solo acoustic “American Tune” as his second and final encore.
