Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts played their first full concert last night to kick off a two-show run at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York. Fittingly, considering the time of the year, Young fit four songs from his 1992 album Harvest Moon into the setlist including a rare “One Of These Days.”
The Chrome Hearts consists of famed keyboardist Spooner Oldham, guitarist Micah Nelson and the Promise Of The Real rhythm section of bassist Corey McCormick and drummer Anthony LoGerfo. The band made its debut two days prior at Farm Aid.

Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts delivered a 14-song, 90-minute performance in Port Chester. Seven of the eight songs played at Farm Aid were also performed at The Cap on Monday.
Young went electric to start the set with “I’m The Ocean” off Mirrorball, his 1995 album in which he was backed by Pearl Jam. The classic “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere” came next before the 78-year-old musician picked up an acoustic guitar for a four-song run. The acoustic portion began with “Comes A Time,” the title track to Young’s 1978 LP, his first recorded with Spooner Oldham. He then looked to Harvest Moon for “From Hank To Hendrix,” its title track and “Unknown Legend.”

Neil Young moved over to upright piano for Time Fades Away standout “Journey Through The Past” and “Love Earth” from Crazy Horse’s World Record album. Young then reached for his famed Old Black guitar as he led The Chrome Hearts through “Homegrown” and Broken Arrow deep cut “Big Time.”
The biggest surprise of the night came next as Young trotted out Harvest Moon’s “One Of These Days” for the first time in public since January 28, 2019. “One Of These Days” was last played by Neil with a band on April 28, 2016 during a Young & Promise Of The Real show.
Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts ended the set in raucous fashion by pairing “Powderfinger” and “Down By The River.” The band threw in a “Roll Another Number (For The Road)” encore for good measure. Young & Co. return to The Capitol Theatre tonight.
