Neil Young will not perform at Farm Aid this year or anywhere else at the moment. While Young was part of the initial 2022 Farm Aid lineup, he posted a response to a letter on his Neil Young Archives website indicating “I will not be at Farmaid this year.” Young added, “I am not ready for that yet. I don’t think it is safe in the pandemic. I miss it very much.”

The letter came from 21-year-old Neil Young fan Tyler Senatore. Tyler discussed his passion for Young’s music in the note and mentioned, “I heard you are playing at Farm Aid this year, and I’m hoping I’ll be able to go.” Neil is a Farm Aid board member and will miss the benefit concert for the second year in a row. Young has yet to perform publicly since the COVID-19 pandemic started.

Farm Aid 2022 will be held on Saturday, September 24. Neil’s fellow board members — Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews and Margo Price — are expected to perform at this year’s benefit. The “Save The Date” announcement on Farm Aid’s website indicates the location and full lineup will be revealed “in late July.”
