CMAT performed four songs for NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series. Three of the four songs came from her third album, Euro-Country, released in 2025.
The Irish singer-songwriter opened with a single from the album, “Take A Sexy Picture Of Me.” The session continued with “When A Good Man Cries,” the song Olivia Rodrigo covered on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge in June.
“I Wanna Be A Cowboy, Baby!” came next, which CMAT first released as a single in 2020. She closed the Tiny Desk Concert with “Lord, Let That Tesla Crash,” another Euro-Country track. CMAT talked about the emotional gravity of the song:
“Thank you so much. I’ve been watching this program for quite a long time, and it was really weird walking up and seeing the band setting up. I was like, ‘It’s like you’re on my phone.’ Because it’s special and unique, I thought we would do something special and unique and play a song that I don’t play live.
“And the reason I don’t play this song live is because it upsets me a little bit, but I really wanted to do it before we kind of wrapped up the Euro-Country album cycle, because the song was written in memory of my friend Jo Rose [an English musician who died in 2024]. And I think he was a gorgeous egomaniac who would get a kick out of this. So, let’s do it.”
CMAT was backed by Jack Wolter on guitar, Colm Conlan on piano and keys, Holly Carpenter on violin and percussion, Oli Deakin on guitar, Daniel Vildósola on pedal steel guitar, Willy Bish on bass and Morgan Karabel on drums.
