My Morning Jacket Hosts Series Of Sit-Ins Including J Mascis, S.G. Goodman, Eggy & More At One Big Holiday

My Morning Jacket treated fans attending their One Big Holiday destination event at Seascape Resort in Miramar Beach, Florida, to a parade of special guests this weekend. The band’s second and third performances featured sit-ins by J Mascis, S.G. Goodman, members of Eggy and others while filling their setlists with choice covers and favored originals.

Frontman Jim James, guitarist Carl Broemel, bassist Tom Blankenship, drummer Patrick Hallahan and keyboardist Bo Koster staged One Big Holiday in the United States for the first time following previous installments in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

After bringing out Tyler Ramsey and Preservation Hall Jazz Band on night one of OBH 2025, night two saw MMJ first joined by Devon Gilfillian for “Only Memories Remain.” Continuing to pull from the roster of fellow festival performers, Eggy guitarist Jake Brownstein and keyboardist Dani Battat were brought out to join Jacket on “Steam Engine.”

The series of sit-ins continued with Maggie Halfman leading My Morning Jacket through her song “Come On.” Members of Bendigo Fletcher came out next for “Smokin’ From Shootin’.”

Bassist Karina Rykman was tapped for a double bass “Run Thru,” which segued into and out of Radiohead’s “The National Anthem.” Friday’s encore began with S.G. Goodman accompanying My Morning Jacket on a cover of Neil Young’s “Like a Hurricane.”

Saturday’s finale started with MMJ covering the Grateful Dead’s “One More Saturday Night.” Later in the set, “Lay Low” was performed with the assistance of Illiterate Light members Jeff Gorman and Jake Cochran. Bendigo Fletcher was brought back Saturday to augment “Wonderful (The Way I Feel).”

The main set ended with members of Futurebirds sharing the stage with My Morning Jacket for “Phone Went West.” Dinosaur Jr. guitarist J Mascis was MMJ’s final guest of the weekend, tapping in on the highly anticipated “One Big Holiday” big finish to the One Big Holiday destination event.

My Morning Jacket’s tour in support of their recently released studio album, is, continues Tuesday, April 8, at the Alabama Theatre in Birmingham, Alabama.
