My Morning Jacket kicked off their 2025 tour last night in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The quintet worked live debuts of every song featured on their new album, is, into the setlist.

The tour opener at Chattanooga’s Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium took place less than two weeks after the band released the Brendan O’Brien-produced is, their tenth studio album. My Morning Jacket – frontman Jim James, bassist Tom Blankenship, guitarist Carl Broemel, drummer Patrick Hallahan and keyboardist Bo Koster – launched the show with “The Dark” off their debut record, The Tennessee Fire, before looking to their latest LP for singles “Half A Lifetime” and “Squid Ink.”

Jim James and his bandmates then lit into fan favorites “Mahgeetah” and “Picture Of You.” The latter featured a Twin Peaks theme intro just hours after a fan made MMJ aware of the similarities between the bass line for the Angelo Badalamenti-composed theme to the television show and the Tennessee Fire track during an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit.

More is debuts followed as “Circuital” broke up the live premieres of “I Can Hear Your Love” and “Lemme Know.” Jacket then treated fans to “War Begun” and the first-ever “River Road,” which garnered raves from attendees. From there, “The Way That He Sings” prefaced new songs “Everyday Magic” and “Time Waited.”

My Morning Jacket’s Chattanooga concert rolled on with a clever sequence connecting “Touch Me I’m Going To Scream Pt. 2,” “Beginning From The Ending” and “Touch Me I’m Going To Scream Pt. 1.” (Get it?) “Beginning From The Ending” was extended as was fellow is cut “Die For It.” The band punctuated their main set with the beloved “One Big Holiday.”

The Tuesday night concert concluded with a four-song encore. Up first was the live debut of “Out In The Open,” the opening track on is. A career-spanning run of “Spring (Among The Living),” “I Think I’m Going To Hell” and “Wordless Chorus” closed out the show.
