My Morning Jacket Channels The Dead With Electrifying ‘One More Saturday Night’ Cover For SiriusXM

My Morning Jacket recently performed a set for Jam On at the SiriusXM Studios in Los Angeles focusing on material from their new studio album, is. The Louisville-based rockers closed out their session with a rollicking take on the Grateful Dead classic “One More Saturday Night” and video of the cover has now been shared on SiriusXM’s YouTube channel.

MMJ’s SiriusXM session was recorded on February 4, a few days after the band performed “One More Saturday Night” with vocalist Maggie Rose at the MusiCares' gala honoring the Grateful Dead. Jim James and his bandmates went it alone for the Grateful Dead cover at the SiriusXM Studios.

Bob Weir wrote “One More Saturday Night” and recorded the song for his debut solo album, 1972’s Ace. The Grateful Dead debuted the song live in 1971 and played “One More Saturday Night” at least once every year through Jerry Garcia’s death in 1975.

My Morning Jacket began their five-song SiriusXM session with it cuts “Time Waited,” “Squid Ink,” “Everyday Magic” and “Half A Lifetime.” SiriusXM released video of “Time Waited” along with the Grateful Dead cover.
