Margo Price & Particle Kid Cover Willie Nelson’s ‘Hands On The Wheel’ For Spotify

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Margo Price recorded a cover of Willie Nelson‘s “Hands On The Wheel” for the Spotify Singles program. The gorgeous rendition arrives on the eve of Willie Nelson’s 90th birthday and includes contributions from the legendary country musician’s son Micah Nelson (Particle Kid).

Spotify partnered with Luck Reunion to bring artists to Nelson’s famed home studio — Pedernales Recording Studio — to cover one of their favorite Willie Nelson songs. Price chose “Hands On The Wheel” from the outlaw country icon’s 1975 album, Red Headed Stranger.

“‘Hands on the Wheel’ has always been one of my favorite songs, and Red Headed Stranger is one of the best albums ever conceived,” Price explained. “The opening lyrics seem so relevant for today’s times.”

Margo Price is joined for “Hands On The Wheel” by her husband, Jeremy Ivey, on guitar. Micah played acoustic guitar and sang harmony, while longtime Willie Nelson bandmate Mickey Raphael added harmonica.

Margo Price and Micah Nelson are among those performing at this weekend’s Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90 concerts. The celebratory shows will be held at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles tomorrow, Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30. Others featured on the lineup include Dave Matthews, Neil Young, Lukas Nelson & POTR, Emmylou Harris, Stephen Stills, Bob Weir, Rosanne Cash and many others.
