Rising Sons: Lukas Nelson & Micah Nelson Cover Willie Nelson’s ‘Bloody Mary Morning’ On ‘Kimmel’

Lukas Nelson + POTR with Micah Nelson (Particle Kid) were the musical guests on last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. Lukas and Micah teamed up to perform a cover of a classic song written by their father, legendary country musician Willie Nelson, “Bloody Mary Morning.”

Tomorrow, Saturday, April 29, Willie Nelson celebrates his 90th birthday with the first of two all-star concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Micah Nelson, Lukas Nelson and Promise Of The Real will appear at this weekend’s celebratory Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90 shows. The all-star lineup also includes Neil Young, Bob Weir, Dave Matthews, Billy Strings, Warren Haynes, Emmylou Harris, Rosanne Cash, Stephen Stills, Snoop Dogg, Margo Price, Sheryl Crow, Sturgill Simpson, The Chicks, The Avett Brothers, Nathaniel Rateliff, Norah Jones and many more.

Written by Willie Nelson and first appearing on his 1974 concept album, Phases And Stages, “Bloody Mary Morning” became one of the patriarch’s signature songs. Lukas and Micah, each sporting Fender Telecasters, shared vocal duties on the rendition of “Bloody Mary Morning” they performed for the Kimmel audience, watch below:
