Watch Zac Brown & Kenny Chesney Honor ‘Hero’ Jimmy Buffett At Gillette Stadium

Country star Kenny Chesney brought his Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour to a close this weekend with three concerts at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. On Saturday, during the middle show of the run, Chesney brought out Zac Brown of supporting act the Zac Brown Band for a collaboration that included a tribute to Jimmy Buffett.

Both Chesney and Brown formed relationships with Buffett and recorded songs with the beloved leader of the Parrothead nation. Chesney recruited Brown to sit in on “Dixieland Delight” by Alabama. After the first collab, Chesney addressed the audience, telling those in the stadium:

“It’s been almost a year that me and Zac – well, not just me and Zac, all of us, the world – lost a really great songwriter, singer-songwriter that touched us all with his heart, touched us all with his music. And it only felt fitting tonight, Zac and I stand up here and pay tribute to our hero, can we do that for you tonight?”

Brown then accompanied Chesney and his band in a performance of Buffett’s classic “Come Monday.” The pair traded off singing verses on the song Buffett originally released on his 1974 album, Living & Dying in ¾ Time. Buffett died on September 1, 2023 at age 76.

After the Buffett tribute, Brown stuck around to join Chesney on a medley that sequenced together Steve Miller’s “The Joker,” Sublime’s “Caress Me Down” and Bob Marley’s “Three Little Birds.”

Brown was not the only guest to shared the stage with Chesney during his headlining set. Tourmates Uncle Kracker and Megan Moroney were also summoned to accompany Chesney and his band at different points of the show.
