Zac Brown Band honored Jimmy Buffett, who died last year at age 76, with the newly shared song “Pirates & Parrots.” The track features guitarist Mac McAnally, a longtime member of Buffett’s backing group the Coral Reefer Band.
“I’m so excited for you to hear this song and to pay tribute to Jimmy Buffett,” frontman Zac Brown stated. “It hit me hard when we found out he was exiting the stage, he was an incredible human being. This is a celebration of his life and all of the people that will remember him through his songs.”

“Pirates & Parrots” was performed by Brown at last week’s Keep The Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett all-star concert event at the Hollywood Bowl. Brown also performed his 2010 duet with Buffett, “Knee Deep,” and was joined by Dave Grohl on a performance of Van Morrison’s “Brown-Eyed Girl,” a cover that was a staple of Buffett’s live setlists. A portion of “Pirates & Parrots” was also played by Brown and Alan Jackson during a tribute to Buffett at the 2023 CMAs.
