A rare solo performance of The Allman Brothers Band’s classic “Melissa” performed by Gregg Allman in 1974 from the upcoming deluxe edition of Laid Back is now available to stream. Mercury/UMe will release the expanded edition of Allman’s 1973 debut studio album on August 30.
The previously unreleased acoustic solo rendition of “Melissa” was recorded at The Capitol Theatre on April 13, 1974. While “Melissa” was not part of the 1974 The Gregg Allman Tour live album release, selections from that The Capitol Theatre performance and at Carnegie Hall made up the long out of print double LP that also arrives on August 30 in vinyl and digital formats.
