This week’s installment of the Grateful Dead’s All The Years Live video series features a performance of “Bird Song” from 1992. The lineup of guitarists Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir, bassist Phil Lesh, keyboardist Vince Welnick and drummers Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann played the Garcia/Hunter classic as the penultimate song of their first set on July 1, 1992 at Buckeye Lake in Hebron, Ohio.

“From the Dead’s final show of their Summer Tour of 1992, this ‘Bird Song’ from Buckeye is from the Dead’s first full tour featuring only Vince Welnick on keyboards, as Bruce [Hornsby] left the band after the Spring Tour of 1992,” said Grateful Dead archivist David Lemieux. “Following this show in Ohio, the Dead took nearly six months off from touring for some much needed rest. When they returned in December 1992, they were refreshed and re-energized.”
