Dogs In A Pile hosted their first festival last weekend bringing Burning Daylight to The Westcott Theater in Syracuse for the debut three-day event. Dogs In A Pile recruited fellow Burning Daylight performers – The Disco Biscuits bassist Marc Brownstein and Kendall Street Company guitarist Louis Smith – for separate sit-ins during day two’s performance.
Dogs In A Pile originally intended to throw Burning Daylight at the nearby outdoor Wonderland Forest concert grounds in Lafayette, New York. The event was moved to The Westcott due to complications at Wonderland Forest.
The host band performed on Friday after sets by Taper’s Choice and Annie in the Water. Saturday’s Burning Daylight lineup included DIAP, Kendall Street Company and Pink Talking Fish, as well as members of Dogs In A Pile joining Brownstein’s DJ Brownie set. Sunday saw Dogs In A Pile’s final appearance after performances by Mikaela Davis, Sneezy and Natalie Brooke.
Louis Smith was the first to come on board with Dogs In A Pile on Saturday in Syracuse. Smith arrived in the middle of the first set to accompany the band on their first time covering Paul McCartney & Wings’ “Let ‘Em In.”
Brownstein’s turn with Dogs In A Pile came in the midst of the second set. Brownie emerged to play bass on Bisco’s longtime staple “Home Again.” DIAP played a portion of “Home Again” once prior during an April 2023 show in Boulder, Colorado.
The collaboration featured double bass action with Brownstein playing beside Dogs In A Pile bassist Sam Lucid for “Home Again.”
Dogs In A Pile’s second day Burning Daylight performance, featuring Brownstein and Smith joining the band, can be viewed via the pro-shot video and streamed via official nugs soundboard audio below:
