Dinosaur Jr.‘s residency at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn is currently underway in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their 1993 album Where You Been. The band continued their trend of inviting up special guests, welcoming guitarists Warren Haynes and Kurt Vile for separate sit-ins on Saturday night.

Dinosaur Jr. kicked off their Brooklyn residency on Friday night and brought out Modest Mouse’s Isaac Brock and The Walkmen’s Hamilton Leithauser. On Sunday, they brought back Vile for a second guest spot and were also joined by Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo.

Dinosaur Jr. guitarist J Mascis, bassist Lou Barlow and drummer Murph were joined by Haynes for a three-song collaboration. The Gov’t Mule guitarist first accompanied the band on The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven.” The Dino/Mule collab continued with “Forget The Swan” from the trio’s 1985 self-titled debut album.

Haynes completed his appearance by fronting Dinosaur Jr. on a set-closing cover of Neil Young’s “Cortez The Killer,” a song Haynes has performed a number of times with a variety of musicians, including Mule.

Vile was the first special guest to emerge on Saturday and began his first sit-in by helming a performance of Dinosaur Jr.’s “Crumble” from their 2007 album, Beyond. Vile took off his guitar before singing lead on a subsequent cover of “No Fun” by The Stooges.

After taking tonight off, Dinosaur Jr.’s Music Hall of Williamsburg residency resumes on Tuesday, December 5, with additional shows on Wednesday, December 6; Thursday, December 7 and Friday, December 8. More guests are expected at each show, which, like Saturday’s concert, will feature a complete performance of Where You Been.
