Dawes continued their current tour on Wednesday with a concert at The Fillmore in San Francisco. Acclaimed Bay Area musician Jason Crosby had his violin in hand for a two-song guest appearance at the end of the band’s first of two sets.

Crosby, who previously sat-in with Dawes during a 2019 Outlaw Music Festival stop outside Chicago, initially emerged last night to add violin on “Comes In Waves.” The multi-instrumentalist took a fierce solo towards the end of the song featured on the latest Dawes album, Misadventures Of Doomscroller. He then traded licks with Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith to lay the groundwork for a transition into the set-closing “When My Time Comes.”

Originally released on their debut 2009 album, North Hills, “When My Time Comes” was greeted by a huge reaction from the crowd. Jason Crosby had another chance to weave in a violin solo and added accents throughout the song. The audience took over vocal duties for the final chorus before Dawes and their guest left the stage.

Earlier in the evening, Dawes opened with Misadventures Of Doomscroller’s “Everything Is Permanent.” The portion of the set before Crosby came out also included a version of “Most People” that featured an excursion through the Grateful Dead classic “Fire On The Mountain” within.

Taylor Goldsmith returned to open the second set with solo versions of “House Parties” and “Crack The Case.” Dawes delivered a career-spanning collection of material over the remainder of the frame. Goldsmith punctuated the evening by treating the crowd to a solo version of “A Little Bit Of Everything” as the encore.
