Ziggy Marley was the musical guest on last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, coinciding with what would have been the 79th birthday of his father, reggae legend Bob Marley. The younger Marley honored his late father by performing the latter’s classic “Could You Be Loved.”

“Could You Be Loved” was released as the lead single off Bob Marley & The Wailers’ album, Uprising, which came out in 1980. The record was Bob Marely’s 12th and final to be released in his lifetime. Bob Marley died May 11, 1981, at age 36.

Ziggy Marley, the son of Bob Marley and Rita Marley, was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1968. He spent part of his childhood in Jamaica and also lived in Wilmington, Delaware where he and his siblings attended elementary school. His musical career began in the late 1970s when he and his siblings formed the Melody Makers.

Ziggy Marley’s appearance on Kimmel promoted the upcoming biopic about his father, Bob Marley: One Love, which opens in theaters on February 14 and features Kingsley Ben-Adir portraying the reggae icon.
