Kacey Musgraves Covers ‘Three Little Birds’ For Bob Marley Biopic

On February 14, Paramount Pictures will premiere the feature film, Bob Marley: One Love, which depicts the life of Jamaican reggae legend Bob Marley. Coinciding with the biopic opening in theaters, Island Records and Tuff Gong will release Bob Marley: One Love (Music Inspired By The Film), a seven-track EP of covers of Marley’s songs recorded by Kacey Musgraves, Leon Bridges, Daniel Caesar, Wizkid, Jessie Reyez, Bloody Civilian and Bob Marley’s grandson Skip Marley.

Bob Marley’s family played a role in approving the seven selections making up the pending release. Five of the seven covered songs come from the 1977 Bob Marley & The Wailers album, Exodus, including the title track, “Natural Mystic,” “Waiting in Vain,” “One Love” and the Kacey Musgraves performed “Three Little Birds.” Rounding out the EP are recordings of “Redemption Song” by Leon Bridges and “Is This Love” by Jessie Reyez.

“The mission is always to spread Daddy’s music to every corner of the Earth, and we were very thoughtful in handpicking these artists,” said Bob Marley’s daughter, musician Cedella Marley. “Having his songs rebirthed at the same time we get to show the world his story through this movie, is something that my family and I are extremely proud to be a part of.”

Produced in partnership with the Marley family, Bob Marley: One Love stars Kingsley Ben-Adir in the role of Bob Marley and Lashana Lynch stars as his widow Rita Marley. Both the film and Bob Marley: One Love (Music Inspired By The Film) EP arrive on February 14.
